March 2008
At a recent meeting to discuss novel measures for the control of Red Mark Syndrome (RMS) in trout, work was presented implicating Flavobacterium psychrophilum as the aetiological agent. We are working with clients to trial vaccines based on F.psychrophilum for the control of RMS. Anyone with an interest in trialing such vaccines should contact our office.

February 2008
We are now able to offer Pulse Field Gel Electropheresis (PFGE) typing for Flavobacterium psychrophilum isolates.

October 2007
We are now able to offer Pulse Field Gel Electropheresis (PFGE) typing for Riemerella anatipestifer isolates. PFGE is the “gold standard” molecular typing methodology for looking at the clonality of bacterial isolates. PFGE produces a molecular fingerprint which enables the genetic relatedness of strains to be compared. This information is very useful for the identification of new and emerging strains on a farm.

April 2007
We are please to announce that customers using our Flavobacterium psychrophilum-based vaccines for the control of rainbow trout fry syndrome in salmon report no disease outbreaks in vaccinated stock.
